Saving for the Future

Learn about saving and money management

Chances are your child has, or is hoping for, a part-time job to afford to do the things they want with their friends. They may also be saving for a bigger purchase, like a car or college. They’re learning the real value of a dollar and some good spending and saving habits. If they don’t have a First Source account and their hard earned cash is sitting in a drawer or in a wallet, they’re losing out on extras. When they deposit into a First Source Claim Your Youth account, they earn dividends and prizes.

Three teens learn the value of saving and earning money with a car washing business.

CU Succeed/Claim Your Youth

Our CU Succeed/Claim Your Youth Program is geared toward our teenage Members. As they move into a job, earn money, learn to drive, plan for college, and begin preparing for adulthood, they need new financial skills and lessons. While saving can earn them Kirby Bucks (which they can redeem for prizes), they can also start managing their money by learning about loans, credit, interest, and dividends.

Teens also have options that include opening a youth checking account, acquiring their first credit card, and applying for an auto loan, actions for which they need a co-signer (parent or guardian).

Savings Means Rewards

For every $5 they deposit, they earn 1 Kirby Buck (direct deposits are not included). Kirby Bucks can be saved and redeemed for prizes. Limit 5 Kirby Bucks given out per person/per account/per day. Limit of 1 prize redeemed per person/per account/per day.

They can also learn about saving and managing money with online learning tools, interactive games, and blogs by other teens on the Claim Your Youth website.
